Indie producers looking to secure a film tax break in New Brunswick before the province scraps the incentive have 10 days to make an application.
Jane Matthews-Clark, a spokeswoman for the provincial ministry of tourism and parks, wellness, culture and sport, told Playback Daily that applications are being accepted and reviewed until April 5, ahead of the film tax credit being phased out this year.
The NB Film credit was introduced for New Brunswick, Canadian and foreign producers to subsidize projects shot in the province.
But New Brunswick’s cash-strapped government signalled the end of the tax break for producers earlier this week.
Recent New Brunswick film and TV credits include Shore Road Pictures’ A Dark Radius and Dream Street Pictures’ documentary Canada Russia ’72.
