Global Television is back in business with ABC, this time partnering on the epic Titanic mini-series along with ITV Studios and Lookout Point.
The U.K.-Hungary-Canada co-production is between ITV Studios, Deep Indigo Productions and Lookout Point in Britain; Shaw Media and Canadian prodco Sienna Films, which also co-produces the Global/ABC medical procedural The Hot Zone, and Hungary-based Mid Atlantic Films.
The four one-hour episodes of Titanic will be simulcast on ABC and Global Television in spring 2012, following production this spring on location in Hungary.
“Despite its legendary fate, on the whole, the Titanic remains a mystery to most, which explains the public’s never-ending fascination,” Barbara Williams, senior vice president of content at Shaw Media, said in a statement.
“This is an amazing collaboration with our Canadian producers and the international broadcasters, and a befitting tribute to this moment in history,” she added.
Titantic is penned by Oscar-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes. Nigel Stafford Clark is producing.
The drama is executive produced by Lookout Point’s Simon Vaughan (also with The Hot Zone), ITV’s Kate Bartlett, Sienna Films’ Jennifer Kawaja and Julia Sereny, Mid Atlantic Films’ Howard Ellis and Adam Goodman and David Collins of Samson Films, Ireland.
Titanic is distributed internationally by ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
