Showing its commitment to the digital economy, the federal government has given $433,000 to develop Manitoba’s new media industry over three years.
“This project will help our digital media sector to capitalize on global opportunities, while also meeting the evolving needs of local industries,” said Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification Lynne Yelich in a statement.
New Media Manitoba (NMM), the province’s not-for-profit association that supports interactive digital media, will use the money for its products, services and businesses to bring their success to the rest of the world.
Executive director Kevin Hnatiuk also remarked that the planned initiatives will go to producers in looking to expand their businesses, training, commercializing products and services, as well as to create new opps for graduates from digital media programs. NMM will also raise the industry’s awareness and knowledge.
NMM boasts more than 900 members across the digital media sector.
