The Rogers Communications division will launch the content-led online community for women as iVillage Canada this spring, with local writers and editors driving its women-centric focus.

The Canadianized version of the popular American women’s portal will also feature content from Rogers’ media properties, including Chatelaine magazine, sweetspot.ca and the Citytv over-the-air TV stations.

“This deal speaks volumes about the brand equity of iVillage, which is an established leader in women’s online community. Rogers – with an unrivaled combination of cross-media assets, digital expertise and sales strength – is an ideal partner to carry the brand forward in the Canadian market,” John Curbishley, senior vice president of business development at iVillage, said in a statement.

Curbishley hammered out the long-term agreement for iVillage Canada with Pary Bell, vice president of digital product at Rogers Media.

The iVillage.ca will feature female-skewing advertiser-friendly content that includes pregnancy and parenting, beauty and style, health and food and entertainment.

Leigh Felesky will stick-handle the launch of iVillage.ca as general manager and director after she relaunched the Chatelaine.com site last year.
