eOne and Impossible team up for WW II doc series

Indie producer Entertainment One and British production partner Impossible Pictures have teamed up to make the six-part Second World War doc series The Last War Heroes.

Shaw Media’s History Television has acquired the Canadian rights to the $3.5 million series, which Cineflix International is shopping internationally outside of Canada and the UK markets.

Channel Four and second-window broadcaster UKTV have picked up the British rights to the doc series, which captures the testimony of Second World War veterans with archival footage and effects-driven battle recreations.

“Using the latest technologies and heartfelt interviews we will providers viewers with an inside and intimate look at the war like they’ve never witnessed before,” Michael Kot, senior vice president of factual entertainment at Entertainment One Television, explained.

The series is expected to be shot in Canada.

Nick Crowe will executive produce for History Television, Paul Wooding for Impossible and Michael Kot for Entertainment One.
