Richard Stursberg lands at Telus as advisor

After his exit last August, former CBC head of English language services Richard Stursberg has resurfaced as a senior advisor on media and entertainment strategy for Telus Corp.

The Twittersphere was abuzz Wednesday regarding a Stursberg sighting that placed him as part of the Telus delegation attending the CRTC  BCE/CTV hearing in Ottawa.

Additionally, the former CBC English services head is scheduled to take part in the Canadian producers’ Prime-Time conference on February 17 in a breakout session entitled “Vertical Integration on Trial.”

Also on the panel is Michael Hennessy, Telus senior vice president of government and regulatory affairs.

Besides his stint at the CBC, Stursberg’s communications experience includes leading the former Canadian Cable Television Association (1995 to 1999), heading up Canadian Satellite Communications and Star Choice and overseeing Telefilm Canada (2001 to 2004) and before joining CBC’s English language services in 2005.
