Alliance Films has picked up the theatrical rights to Satan, the latest feature length documentary from heavy metal rock music chroniclers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn.

Following the critical and commercial success of Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage (pictured… not Satan), McFadyen and Dunn will start work on the portrait of the historical and popular culture roots of the anti-hero, otherwise known as Lucifer or Beelzebub, later this year.

Tricon Films & Television has picked up the international TV rights to the Satan biopic.

McFadyen and Dunn’s Banger Films production shingle is also at work on 11 one-hours of Metal Evolution: The Series for VH1 and CTV this fall.

“I can’t think of a better way to make a living than creating docs about music and subjects that you love,” McFadyen said of the Banger Films slate.

“The problem we have now is finding enough time to work on all the projects we have on our plate,” he added.
