ACTRA Toronto announces award nominees

ACTRA’s largest union will be handing out trophies next month as part of its annual awards ceremony.

Along with veteran actor Fiona Reid (pictured), who is slated to receive ACTRA Toronto’s 2011 Award of Excellence, a trio of juried ACTRA Awards will also be doled out.

Outstanding performance – voice nominees are London Angelis (You Are Here), Sean Cullen (Jimmy Two-Shoes, series lead), Cory Doran (Jimmy Two-Shoes, series lead), Billy MacLellan (Afghanada, series lead) and Maurice Dean Wint (Beasts of the Bible).

Molly Parker and the late Tracy Wright from Bruce McDonald’s Trigger received nods for Outstanding performance – female, along with Sarah Manninen (Keep Your Head Up, Kid: The Don Cherry Story), Zoie Palmer (The Untitled Work of Paul Shepard) and Liisa Repo-Martell (Flashpoint, guest star, Unacceptable Risk).

Maury Chaykin (Less Than Kind, series lead) also landed a posthumous nomination for Outstanding performance – male, joining nominees Mark McKinney (Death Comes to Town, series lead), Noah Reid (Score: A Hockey Musical), Nicholas Rose (New Year) and Chuck Shamata (Break a Leg).

The gala will be hosted by The Listener’s Ennis Esmer and will take place on February 25, 2011.
