ACTRA National logs onto Facebook

Canadian actors are among friends now: ACTRA National has enlisted Facebook so its performer members can stay in touch digitally.

“ACTRA’s new Facebook page encourages our members to swing by, stay in the loop, and join the conversation,” ACTRA national executive director Stephen Waddell told Playback Daily about the newly-launched account.

ACTRA has opened earlier Facebook accounts, including IWorkActra!, where participants are encouraged to explain why they employ ACTRA members, and used Twitter to back its advocacy campaigns.

There’s also separate Facebook accounts for ACTRA Toronto and ACTRA Ottawa.

And ACTRA has bent over backwards to exhibit its digital credentials in recent years to Canadian industry players with whom it routinely bargains for new labor contracts and fair compensation for its rank and file.

The new ACTRA National Facebook page includes separate sections for union members and outsiders and, surprisingly for actors, no photos as of yet.
