Global has filled the gaps in its winter programming lineup with two new dramas in established genres.
The first to debut will be the steamy-looking medical drama Off the Map (pictured). Set in a tropical jungle, the show follows a cast of (beautiful) characters as they struggle with the challenges of working in a remote location – and with each other. From the same creative team as Grey’s Anatomy, Off the Map will premiere in the hot Wednesday night 10 p.m. slot on Jan. 12 in simulcast with ABC. (All times ET/PT.)
The second new drama is The Chicago Code, a police drama from cop show veteran Shawn Ryan (creator of The Shield and The Unit). Starring Jennifer Beals (The L Word), the show tracks the on-the-street trials of the Chicago police force, loosely based on the perspective of a citizen on a ride-along (the show was originally called Ride-Along). It will air in simulcast with Fox on Mondays at 9 p.m. (where the Dallas-style drama Lonestar once stood) starting Feb. 7.
“Among the wealth of popular series returning over the next few months, Global’s prime-time lineup is further strengthened with the premieres of The Chicago Code and Off the Map,” Barb Williams, SVP, content, Shaw Media, said in a release. “These are smart and engaging dramas featuring compelling characters. We knew from the start they’d be a great fit with our schedule, and we’re looking forward to seeing how they resonate with our viewers.”
Also new to the network will be the reality/stunt show Winter Wipeout, starting Thursday, Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. (formerly the Bones timeslot) and Bob’s Burgers, a new half-hour animated comedy starting Sunday, Jan. 9 at 8:30 p.m.
