A company billing itself as Canada’s largest post-production and FX studio, Montreal-based Vision Globale, just got a $6 million boost from the Quebec government to help it adapt to the digital age.
The cash from Société générale de financement du Québec (SGF) – which made headlines when it purchased a 38% stake and 51% voting share in Alliance Films last year – will likely be used for research and development, a company spokesperson told Playback Daily.
Vision Globale currently has the FX contract for the $58 million Upside Down (Onyx Films, Studio 37, Transfilm) and is working with a number of Quebec movie theatres to help them go digital. In 2009 the federal government gave Vision Globale a $1,375,000 repayable loan to assist the company in offering more comprehensive digital services.
The company has 265 employees working in four specialized tech centers based in Montréal.
“We are thrilled to support Vision Globale’s growth strategy and help it continue to consolidate and expand its sectors of activity,” said Pierre Shedleur, President and General Manager of SGF in a statement.
