Could Silent Hill 2 be moving to Toronto?

Don Carmody has a dilemma.

The veteran Canadian movie producer is reteaming with French colleague Samuel Hadida to co-produce Michael J. Bassett’s Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, scheduled to shoot in spring 2011.

But Carmody is undecided on whether to shoot the 3D sequel in Brantford, Ontario where the original Christopher Gans’ Silent Hill horror flick was shot – or in Toronto.

The problem is Brantford is undergoing a massive urban renewal project that will see 41 heritage buildings on Colborne Street, mostly dating from 1850 to 1870, torn down to make way for new development.

Carmody chose Brantford for the original Silent Hill shoot precisely because a derelict stretch of downtown Colborne Street, where the streets are narrow and the buildings cheek-by-jowl, was perfect for Silent Hill as a dark and gloomy video game-to-movie adaptation.

Carmody told Playback Daily that no final decision has been made on where to shoot the Silent Hill sequel based on the Konami video game franchise.
