Veteran indie producer Cher Hawrysh is to head up the upcoming 2011 Toronto Screenwriting Conference, organizers said Monday.

Hawrysh (Fierce Light: When Spirit Meets Action, Scared Sacred) will stickhandle the writers’ event as conference manager, Glenn Cockburn, co-founder of the Toronto Screenwriting Conference said.

“Cher’s extensive experience in both film and television along with her commitment to fostering creative talent and collaboration is the kind of leadership that will further establish the Toronto Screenwriting Conference as the premiere screenwriting event in Canada for serious screenwriters and professionals who work with them,” he said in a statement.

The second Toronto Screenwriting Conference will take place April 9th and 10th, 2011 at Ryerson University.
