Upstart boutique animation producer Wizard Hat Productions has unveiled plans for a TV show based on the Grim Hill book series by author Linda DeMeulemeester.
Toronto-based Wizard Hat, recently launched by Pam Slavin, Toni Stevens and Bill Fox, will shoot 26 half-hours of the tween CGI-animated show.
The five-book Grim Hill series, launched by Lobster Press in 2007, pits ordinary teens against magical creatures in the town of Grim Hill.
“Grim Hill has attracted legions of fans who have been asking for a TV show based on the popular books, and we’re looking forward to bringing the adventures of Cat, Sookie, Jasper and Clive to life on air,” Slavin, executive producer at Wizard Hat Productions, said.
Wizard Hat is looking to produce programming for the global market, with a target audience of pre-schoolers and tweens, and a focus on animated comedies for 6- to 11-year-olds.
