Former CTV programming exec Louise Clark has opened her own production shingle in Vancouver, backed by a plum development and first-look deal with NBC Universal.
Lark Productions will produce both scripted and reality TV programming using a development fund provided by the Hollywood studio.
Michael Edelstein, president of international television production for NBCU, said his studio was backing Clark on the strength of credits like Corner Gas, Flashpoint and The Listener.
“Our decision to get into business with Lark Productions is largely attributed to Louise’s reputation as one of Canada’s top talents,” Edelstein said in a statement.
Clark left CTV as its Vancouver-based development head in August 2008 after having had a hand in virtually all the network’s programming, including TV movies and documentaries.
Before CTV, she had nearly 15 years of prior indie production experience in Toronto and Vancouver, most notably with Rhombus Media, Atlantis Productions, Cadence Entertainment and Pacific Motion Pictures.
That made Clark a valuable property for any broadcasters looking to do business with her post-CTV.
Erin Haskett Thorn joins Lark Productions as vice president of development, after previously working as director of development at Paperny Films.
