Tim Burton, passing through Toronto to help launch his MOMA exhibition at Bell Lightbox, has invited his fans to help pen an online story for his Stainboy character (pictured) via Twitter.
The cloud-sourcing script project on the Burton Story website is called Cadavre Exquis, or Exquisite Corpse, and asks Twitter users to help build an adventure story around a Stainboy character that appeared in Burton’s earlier collection of poems entitled The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy & Other Stories and series of film shorts.
Burton started the story on Twitter like this: “Stainboy, using his obvious expertise, was called in to investigate mysterious glowing goo on the gallery floor.”
The Alice in Wonderland director then asks Twitter users to help fill out the story.
The best tweet received each day until December 6 will be included in the story.
The Twitter script project has appeared ahead of Burton’s film-related exhibition, complete with drawings, paintings and costumes, opening at Bell Lightbox on Friday, November 26.
The Burton exhibition will run in Toronto to April 17, 2011.
