Giving Voice: Filmmakers Working with Filmmakers is the newest program from The Documentary Organization of Canada, funded by CBC’s digichannel documentary.
An extension of DOC’s public masters’ speaker series, Giving Voice targets doc professionals who are looking to take the next step in their careers, and offers field training with a doc vet for four months during production.
“Being a documentary filmmaker is hard and getting harder. Anyone can pick up a camera and post something on YouTube, but being a professional filmmaker requires training, mentorship, financial support and dedication to craft,” says DOC’s chair John Christou in a statement. “The Giving Voice program aims to support those filmmakers wanting to develop their craft by giving their careers a boost.”
A call for applications will be sent nationwide eight will be selected by a committee to participate in the program.
