The Cineplex Galaxy Income Fund has reported its Q3 revenues at $269.0 million, up from $257.5 million the same period last year. Total revenues for the nine months ending September 30 sit at $770.0 million, 7.4% higher than the $717.2 million the company posted in 2009.
“Cineplex’s revenues this quarter represent the strongest quarterly revenues ever recorded by the Fund since its inception,” said Ellis Jacob, president and CEO, Cineplex Entertainment.
And Inception is the key word.
Strong box office from Hollywood fare such as the Leonardo DiCaprio’s sci-fi hit, animated films such as Despicable Me and Toy Story 3, and shooting-fish-in-the-barrel teen angst vampire drama Twilight powered box office to a superlative year.
The numbers were also helped along by digital roll-out, which increased the Fund’s advertising revenue, as well as its potential for 3D. Imax and 3D box office revenues are up 53% Q3 over 2009, and a remarkable 125.4% for the three quarters ending September 30 over the same period last year.
