CTV pays tribute to Remembrance Day

CTV News Channel is leading the net’s coverage plans of Thursday’s Remembrance Day ceremonies from Ottawa.

The two-hour special will be hosted by chief news anchor and senior editor Lloyd Robertson, airing live on CTV stations in Ontario and Quebec, as well as streaming live on CTV.ca.

“Every time I hear, read or see a story from our Veterans I am struck by the courage ordinary people display in extraordinary circumstances,” said Robertson in a statement. “I am humbled by the exceptional heroes we honour on this day.”

Meanwhile, its stations in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Atlantic provinces will air The Wave of Silence along with four short stories from Canadian vets, and CTV British Columbia will air a live one-hour special of local ceremonies.

CTV has partnered with The Historica-Dominion Institute and its Memory Project to create the short vignettes telling stories of World War II Veterans Ed Carter-Edwards, Bernard Finestone, Corinne Kernan-Sévigny, Cyril Roach, which have been airing in high rotation on CTV and its channels.

The vignettes will also air extended interviews on Canada AM as well as part of an interview with Pat Stogran as a half-hour special Voices of Courage, narrated by Robertson, and airing Thursday morning.
