Montreal’s PHI Group and Galafilm are partnering. The move will see the two companies align their business interests and move forward on independent film, TV and new media properties.
Galafilm’s catalog includes kids and youth programming as well as docs, with such titles as Fire And Ice: The Rocket Richard Riot and Big Sugar. The company can boast 27 Geminis and Gémeaux (on 88 nominations), as well as numerous Genies, Rockies and an Emmy.
PHI has made news recently with such shorts as Next Floor and Danse Macabre (both Jutra and Genie winners), and is also associate producer on Denis Villeneuve’s festival darling, Incendies.
“From its headquarters in Montreal and bases in Toronto and Los Angeles, Galafilm with PHI is poised to build on the tradition of working with the best talents to bring audiences in North America and the world entertaining programming in a rapidly changing media universe,” said Arnie Gelbart, president of Galafilm in a statement.
“We welcome the opportunity to benefit from Galafilm’s expertise in producing a diverse and exciting portfolio. We are also thrilled to envision future opportunities of a PHI/Gala collaboration,” adds Phoebe Greenberg, president of PHI Group.
