Eight new TV and digital media projects in the Diverse Languages Program will share in $1 million from the CMF.
TV components will receive $898,000 with the remaining $102,000 set aside for digital media components. Projects will be produced in Italian, Mandarin, Portuguese, Punjabi, and Tamil languages and more than half (five) are documentaries, followed by two dramas and one children’s and youth show.
Among the docs Les 9 jours de Sousa Mendes from Montreal’s Productions Telimagin for Festival Portuguese Television, Miss inc. – L’odyssee de la beaute from Montreal’s Productions Pimiento, My Country from Toronto’s Third Element Productions for OMNI , six eps of La Nostra Storia in Canada from Telelatino Network for Telelatino, and eight eps of Reflections – South Asian Success Stories from MMM Film Finance International for OMNI.
Also, three Toronto projects are in the works for New Tang Dynasty TV, including If Mountains Could Speak from Maoran Studios, six episodes of Journey to Happiness from Qiming Production Development, and 13 eps of Leisure Café from New Realm Studios.
