The Whistler Film Fest has announced the line-up for the Borsos Competition for best Canadian feature, as well as the names of the directors who are up for the inaugural Voices International Feature Competition.
The $15,000 Borsos Competition is presented by the DGC – BC and recognizes the “creativity and passion [of] independent filmmakers.” Up for the award this year are:
Good Neighbours (Jacob Tierney)
Hard Core Logo II (Bruce McDonald)
Jo Pour Jonathan (Maxime Giroux)
Small Town Murder Songs (Ed Gass-Donnelly)
Whistleblower (Larysa Kondracki)
Wrecked (Michael Greenspan)
New this fest, the New Voices International Feature Competition looks to acknowledge the creative work of international directors working on their first or second feature. The prize comes with a $10,000 reward, and will go to one of six directors:
Attenberg (Athina Rachel Tsangari, Greece)
Blue Valentine (Derek Cianfrance, USA)
Daydream Nation (Michael Goldbach, Canada)
Nothing’s All Bad (Mikkel Munch-Fals, Denmark)
The Silence (Baran bo Odar, Germany)
You Are Here (Daniel Cockburn, Canada)
The Whistler Film Festival runs from December 1 to 5.
