Looking to expand the Canuck screenwriting talent pool, the Writers Guild of Canada and CTV are joining forces to form the CTV Diverse Screenwriters Program.
The new initiative is aimed at finding emerging and mid-career writers from a variety of backgrounds and to help them polish the skills needed to become a professional screenwriter. Of the eight accepted into the program, one will land a paid internship in a CTV writers’ room.
The program includes a one-week intensive workshop in Toronto next March with lectures, guest speakers and screenings. Each writer will also be partnered with a screenwriter mentor to develop and complete an original script.
