Canadian singing sensation Justin Bieber is in talks for a permanent TV gig as host of MTV’s Punk’d celebrity hidden-camera series.

U.S. media reports point to the Stratford, Ontario-native inking a deal with Katalyst Entertainment the production vehicle for original Punk’d host Ashton Kutcher, to host a revival of the signature MTV series.

Bieber top-lining Punk’d would hit MTV’s sweet spot in terms of viewership, and possibly bring some much-needed Cancon to MTV Canada.

CTVglobemedia is currently addressing an informal inquiry from the CRTC on why MTV Canada, a specialty with an-all talk format for Canadians, has so many U.S.-originated MTV reality shows like Jersey Shore, Cribs, Downtown Girls and Teen Mom on its primetime schedule.
