Theatrical/VOD release for Quebec film

FunFilms Distribution has a novel way to release Francois Delisle’s Deux fois une femme into the Canadian market: a simultaneous theatrical and VOD bow on October 29.

The Films 53/12 production will be released in theatres just as Videotron’s Illico on-demand service debuts the French language drama about a woman who leaves her violent husband one night and heads for northern Quebec with her son under a new identity.

The dual release of Delisle’s fourth film will follow twin screenings on October 22 and 24 at the Festival du nouveau cinéma (FNC), ahead of the dual theatrical/VOD release.

Videotron’s Illico service also plans to screen on-demand 20 selected films from past FNC festivals.

The films will be available on-demand for $0.99 per-short film and $4.99 for feature films, to be streamed on TV sets or on mobile phones.

“This move to make FNC access available on video on demand during the Festival’s run will help extend the Festival’s reach and bring it to more movie buffs across Quebec,” said Claude Foisy, vice president of brand management at Videotron.
