Jay Baruchel and Seann William Scott are teaming up to star in the Michael Dowse-directed comedy Goon, the Raging Bull of hockey movies from indie producers Don Carmody, David Gross and Jesse Shapira.
Baruchel, who wrote the Goon script with Evan Goldberg, will play Johnny Klutz, the best friend to a bouncer-turned-hockey player, played by Scott.
Baruchel is also producing Goon, whose cast includes Alison Pill as the female lead and Marc-Andre Grondin as a Quebec hockey star.
Goon starts shooting in Winnipeg in mid-October, backed by Manitoba tax credits.
Dowse is best known for directing Fubar and It’s All Gone Pete Tong.
