Cineflix does British kids game show

Indie producer Cineflex Productions is to produce a British game show, entitled Robostar, that features best friend kids controlling a celebrity for a day.

The prankster series for CBBC will see British film and TV personalities perform practical jokes on an unsuspecting public at the prompting of a group of five- to eight-year olds cast for the series.

Montreal-based Cineflix, recently known for its American Pickers and now Canadian Pickers series, is rolling out studio-based entertainment shows in Britain that it hopes can be sold as formats into the U.S. and other foreign markets.

As online casting notices for Robostar explain, the dream scenario for the young “robo-controllers” now being cast for the series is being able to exert total control over a TV or movie celebrity as they engage in playful games and practical jokes for prizes.

The series, to be produced by Cineflix Productions UK, is expected to be hosted by British radio personalities Jason King and Joel Ross, also known as JK & Joel.

The duo will host the kids show from Robostar HQ, a studio-based mission control set where selected children control their Robostar celebrities through microphones, a bank of video screens and other high-tech gadgetry.
