O’Farrell takes over TFO

Glenn O’Farrell has taken over as president and CEO of TFO, Ontario’s public, French-language educational network.

O’Farrell, who takes the reins from Claudette Paquin, was recently in the news for his efforts at MédiadeNovo – most notably for the company’s bid to allow Canadian ad substitutions in American shows that air out of simulcast, a pitch the company insists would create additional ad revenue for Canuck broadcasters.

O’Farrell previously served as president and CEO of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (between 2002 and 2009), and prior to that in various leadership positions at CanWest Global.

Says O’Farrell of his new mandate: “TFO is an essential institution for francophone communities throughout Ontario, and is recognized as a producer and distributor of quality educational and cultural content. It is imperative that we meet the challenges and seize the opportunities presented by the digital media to continue its mission to better serve French life in Ontario.”
