Toronto-raised actress Malin Akerman has been signed to star opposite Ethan Hawke in action-thriller The Numbers Station.
The film, about a black ops agent protecting a CIA code operator, is directed by Kasper Barfoed (The Candidate) and produced by Sean and Bryan Furst (Daybreakers, The Matador, The Girl in The Park) as well as Ethan Hawke. Executive producers include Ryan Hawke, Chris Cowles and Chris Fenton of H2F Entertainment. It’s also written by F. Scott Frazier, whose IMDb credits are primarily in the gaming industry.
Akerman, best known for her role as the Laurie Jupiter/Silk Spectre II in The Watchmen, has been having a busy year – she’s the top-billed actress in The Bang Bang Club with Ryan Philippe, which premiered last week at TIFF, and she’s co-starring with Katie Holmes in The Romantics, also opening this week. Her other credits include The Proposal and Couples Retreat.
Akerman is repped by William Morris Endeavor (WME) Entertainment in Beverly Hills, California.
Principal photography is slated to start early 2011.
