Bill House has partnered with fellow indie producers Jennifer Jonas and Leonard Farlinger to option and develop Russell Smith’s Girl Crazy novel for a movie adaptation.
Smith will write the screenplay for the movie, to be co-produced by House of Films and New Real Films.
Production on the drama about a college professor’s obsession with a young woman is set for 2011 in Toronto.
“People have often told me my books read like blueprints for screenplays, so I’m very excited to be trying my hand at a real one,” Smith said in a statement.
Bill House is currently co-executive producing the Showcase drama pilot Clean.
Jonas and Farlinger have just produced Bruce McDonald’s Trigger, which will open Bell Lightbox with a gala screening on September 12 at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
