The Hannah Montana influence on youth programming carries on into the fall 2010 season, with several new series about ordinary teens who develop extraordinary musical talents. YTV and Treehouse will see new programs both online and on TV come September.

Victorious (20 x 30 min.) is about a 15-year-old who is new at a prestigious arts school in Hollywood, and struggles to fit in as she discovers a talent for performing. The series debuts on YTV on Friday, Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m.

In Big Time Rush (20 x 30 min.), four best friends from Minnesota join the glamorous LA pop music scene in this series debuting Monday, Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. on YTV. But, as Justin Bieber may know, trading in one’s ordinary childhood for the glamorous celeb lifestyle can change a person, and these sudden heartthrobs are no exception. Produced in partnership by Nickelodeon and Sony Music, each show features original songs performed by the show’s stars.

The animated Sidekick (13 x 30 min.) follows a young orphan who lives as a sidekick in a world of superheroes and villains. Premiering Saturday, Sept. 11 at 10:30 a.m. on YTV, Sidekick (produced in Canada by Nelvana) sees its antagonist dealing with the mysterious disappearance of the superhero he works for.

In Life Unexpected (26 x 60 min.), a foster kid looks for her biological parents and finds them, discovering she was the result of a one-night stand. While she would rather be emancipated, a court grants her newfound parents joint custody. A CW series, Life Unexpected premieres Friday, Sept. 10 at 10 p.m. on YTV.

Kyle XY (43 x 60 min.) follows a bizarrely innocent teenage boy who acts like a newborn, adopted to the home of the psychologist who is treating him. While the doctor’s family is not too happy to have the new person in the house, he eventually becomes part of the family, experiencing everyday things like computers, music and parties for the first time. The sci-fi series, which is filmed in Vancouver, debuts Monday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m. on YTV.

Babar and the Adventures of Badou is scheduled for YTV’s younger-skewed Playtime block, debuting Monday, Nov. 22 at 11 a.m. Badou is the grandson of the famous Badar, and the 13-episode series is about the trouble the elephant gets into with his animal friends.

On Treehouse, The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! (40 x 30 min.) brings the character to (animated) life as Cat (Steve Martin) and his friends travel around the world, making scientific discoveries. The show premieres Saturday, Aug. 7 at 5:30 p.m., but will run four on four different days of the week.

3-2-1 Let’s Go (26 x 30 min.) is a preschool series featuring segments from other Muppet shows like Bert and Ernie’s Great Adventures. It premieres Wed., Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. on Treehouse.
