This year’s Hot Docs opening film about iconic Canuck rock band Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage could soon be hitting small screens around the world.
A newly formed relationship with Toronto prodco Banger Films and Tricon Films & Television will see the latter snapping up the international TV rights to the documentary, which explores the band’s 40-year career and the Rush cultural phenomenon. Tricon will also be distributing Banger’s Metal Evolution: The Series (8 x 60 minutes), slated to hit VH1 Classics in spring 2011.;
Rush saw a sold-out world premiere at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, where it won the audience prize. Co-directed by Banger’s Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn, it also received its home turf debut at this past Hot Docs.
