Robert Lantos’ Barney’s Version will have its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, which on Tuesday unveiled some its picks for gala and special presentations at the upcoming 35th edition of the fest.
The Canada/Italy copro Barney, based on the acclaimed Mordecai Richler novel, will bow as a gala alongside the latest offerings from prominent filmmakers such as Robert Redford, Darren Aronofsky, Emilio Estevez, and John Madden. The Canada/South Africa copro The Bang Bang Club, from director Steven Silver, and the Hamilton-shot Casino Jack, starring Kevin Spacey, are also in the lineup.
Barney, Jack, and Bang Bang Club are distributed by E1 Entertainment.
Among the titles in the special presentation program are Tony Goldwyn’s Conviction, featuring Hilary Swank, Philip Seymour Hoffman’s directorial debut Jack Goes Boating, and John Cameron Mitchell’s Rabbit Hole, starring Nicole Kidman.
