The Jason Priestley comedy Call Me Fitz has found a home in Latin America where SPE Networks will broadcast the half-hour series following a deal with E1 Entertainment, the company announced on Thursday.
The Nova Scotia-shot series from creator/exec producer Sheri Elwood (Defying Gravity) and producers E1, Amaze Film + Television and Big Motion Pictures will go into production on a second season this fall. Fitz stars Priestley as a morally bankrupt used car salesman who is forced to go into business with his ‘conscience.’ The 13-ep comedy debuts in September on The Movie Network and Movie Central.
‘We’re confident in [SPE’s] ability to attract an audience for the dark comedy and believe it will resonate with Latin American viewers,’ commented Valerie Cabrera, EVP of E1 Television International in a release.
Meanwhile, E1 has also sold comedy series Kenny vs. Spenny to SPE (Sony Pictures Entertainment) in Latin America. The series, which airs here on Showcase, pits childhood friends against each other in outrageous competitions. On the non-fiction side, Discovery Communications has picked up the documentary series Skin Deep from E1.
