Distribution Access has signed a deal to acquire Canamedia – at over 33 years, one of Canada’s most established broadcast distribution and production companies. The deal will be finalized July 31.
The pick-up will help Distribution Access, traditionally known more for its educational video content, take on more of a mainstream production and distribution role, making the most of Canamedia’s production savvy to expand on a library that already stands at over 15,000 titles.
Canamedia’s existing agreements will migrate to Distribution Access, and the prodco’s president, Les Harris, will take a position on the board of directors.
Distribution Access was originally a CHUM entity, which was swept up by CTV during the acquisition. The distributor became an independent last August under a board of directors which includes Ronald Keast, Peter Palframan, Doug Connolly, Moses Znaimer and Johnjoe Farragher.
