Jennifer Stewart is stepping into a new role as the pubcaster appointed her executive director of acquisitions, development and Feature Film initiative programming for CBC’s English Services.
She’ll be reporting to CBC Television GM Kirstine Stewart, and her remit will include executing both strategic and creative directions of the Feature Film initiative. Stewart will continue heading up acquisitions and managing the development process for the creative departments for all English TV genres.
Stewart has been with the Ceeb since 1998, where she began as a sales exec, eventually moving up to senior director of acquisitions. She took on managing the development process last year.
The Feature Film initiative is a CBC and Telefilm partnership, which is a new approach to commissioning, marketing and distributing Canadian English-language feature films. Its focus is on developing and financing films with an initial theatrical release followed by broadcast on CBC Television and distribution on other platforms.
