Distributor Video Services Corp. has acquired the Canadian rights to Cinema Libre Studio’s catalogue, which includes the documentary South of the Border from Oscar-winner Oliver Stone.
Border, which focuses on current political and social attitudes in South America, will be released this year alongside the health-themed docs Dying To Have Known, The Gerson Miracle, The Beautiful Truth and Healing Cancer. Border had its world premiere at last year’s Venice Film Festival and is set for U.S. release on Friday.
Other titles in the agreement include Sundance winner Fuel — about North America’s obsession with fossil fuels, featuring Woody Harrelson, Neil Young and other celebrities – and the Martin Sheen-narrated doc The End of Poverty.
L.A.-based indie distributor Cinema Libre specializes in social issue and political documentaries.
