Brazil win over North Korea attracts 1.2 million for CBC

Brazil, the soccer team that is a Canadian odds-on favourite in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, won 2-1 against North Korea Tuesday with 1.2 million Canadians watching on CBC, according to BBM Canada ratings.

The Ivory Coast vs. Portugal match was the second most-popular of the day, attracting 729,000 million, while the New Zealand vs. Slovakia game had 404,000 million early morning viewers. An encore of the presentation of the draw between Ivory Coast and Portugal had 661,000 on the Ceeb.

Meanwhile, the World Cup is also boosting CBC.ca traffic, with more than 600,000 live streams. Ivory Coast vs. Portugal was the most popular game online, with 325,884 views, while Brazil vs. North Korea had 223,108 streams and New Zealand vs. Slovakia had 58,482 watch the players online.
