Glee wraps with 2.5 million

Glee

Glee finished its freshman run on a strong note Tuesday delivering its best audience for Global since The Power of Madonna episode earlier this year.

The hit musical comedy, which has become a staple of the broadcaster’s Tuesday lineup, averaged 2.5 million viewers at 9 p.m. for the episode entitled Journey. The number eclipses Glee’s fall and winter averages of 1.7 million and 2.2 million viewers, respectively. (All numbers 2+).

The episode may become the show’s highest-rated yet when final data is released in the coming weeks. The Madonna episode only slightly outranks the overnight data for Journey.

The episode — which featured guest appearances by Olivia Newton-John and Josh Groban — also garnered its largest audience on Fox with 10.9 million viewers, without the benefit of an American Idol lead-in, according to the New York Times. Glee has already received a third season order from the U.S. broadcaster.
