Nurse lands U.S. distribution deal

Multiple Genie-nominee Nurse.Fighter.Boy has been picked up for U.S. distribution.

New York’s Film Movement acquired the rights to the urban love story, which is the feature directorial debut of Toronto filmmaker Charles Officer (Short Hymn Silent War, Da Kink In My Hair) who co-wrote Nurse with Ingrid Veninger (Only, The Limb Salesman Gambling). The deal was negotiated by Film Movement’s Adley Gartenstein and Rebeca Conget, with Sebastien Chesneau of Rezo.

The film took home only one Genie out of ten nominations at this year’s ceremonies where it faced strong competition from Denis Villeneuve’s Polytechnique.

It’s the 17th feature film produced through the Canadian Film Centre’s Features program and premiered at TIFF in 2008.

Film Movement distributes indie and foreign films via a subscription service, in which subscribers receive a new DVD each month to keep.
