KinoSmith has beefed up its catalogue, snagging the Canadian rights to a dozen features and documentaries including Jeff Malmberg’s critically acclaimed Marwencol.
A selection of eight docs will receive theatrical runs through the indie Toronto distributor, which will then send the films to the home entertainment market via Hot Docs DVD Collection. The docs also include Sweetgrass, Water on The Table, and Hot Docs audience favorite Winnebago Man from filmmaker Ben Steinbauer.
Scott Walker 30th Century Man, Cat Ladies, The Rise and Fall of Grumpy Burger and Sounds Like a Revolution will only be distributed via the Hot Docs DVD Collection, through VOD and online.
The remaining four feature films that round out the distribution deal include The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle, Carl Bessai’s next feature Fathers & Sons, the companion film to Mothers & Daughters from 2008, Rune Denstad Langlo’s North, all for theatrical distribution, while Chris Smith’s American Job for DVD.
