Adam Kane will direct the pilot episode of Haven, which this week began production in Lunenburg, NS for Showcase and Syfy.

Both channels have also set dates for the suspense drama, which will have its Canadian premiere on Monday, July 12 at 10 p.m. U.S. broadcaster Syfy will debut the series days earlier on July 9.

Kane’s TV credits include directing episodes of The Mentalist, Heroes and Pushing Daisies.

The series, based on Stephen King’s 2005 novella The Colorado Kid, follows an FBI agent played by Emily Rose (Damages) who attempts to keep supernatural forces at bay in a small Maine town. It is produced by E1 Entertainment alongside Shawn Piller, Lloyd Segan and Scott Shepherd — the trio behind the King-originated Dead Zone series.

E1 handles international distribution while Universal Networks International has exclusive pay-TV rights for the world, excluding Canada, U.S. and Scandinavia.
