Portfolio Entertainment’s copro The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! has been picked up by ITV’s kids channel CITV. The deal was recently closed at MIPTV in Cannes.

The show is a copro with British producer Collingwood O’Hare Entertainment. Cat is slated to air in September on Canada’s Treehouse, and on PBS Kids in the U.S.

The preschool series is based on the popular kidlit title, and is produced in association with Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Random House Children’s Entertainment. Martin Short lends his pipes to the titular feline, who leads two kids on a journey of science discoveries.

‘We’re absolutely thrilled to bring such an iconic children’s brand as Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! to CITV,’ commented Emma Tennant, controller of ITV Digital Channels, in a statement. ‘This beautifully produced series will engage preschoolers and parents alike with each exciting and captivating adventure.’

Meanwhile, Australia’s Roadshow Entertainment also picked up the DVD and home entertainment rights to the series for New Zealand and Australia.
