Canon USA rep Tim Smith shows off two new camcorders on the trade floor at NAB, the XF305 and XF300. (See all our NAB videos.)
‘It’s our very first tapeless traditional camcorder,’ says Smith of the similar models, which record to CompactFlash cards, though ‘it’s more of a traditional camera for us considering the world we just came from which was the HD SLR world.’
The higher-end XF305 costs about US$8,000, while its non-HD sibling will go for about $6,800. ‘If you’re an independent filmmaker you’ll probably want to go with the 300.’ They ship in June.
