Alliance Films declined comment Friday on U.S. media reports linking company president Charles Layton to a start-up film financier and producer.
Alliance Films spokesman Mark Slone in a statement said only that ‘Charles is still president of Alliance Films.’
Speculation about the former Miramax Films exec’s future at Alliance Films follows a report on the Deadline Hollywood website that he will join former CAA film finance department agent Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and IM Global’s Stuart Ford in a new venture to finance and produce commercial movie releases.
Layton joined Alliance Films in 2007 after it was acquired by Goldman Sachs & Co., which also installed Victor Loewy as executive chairman.
