Global and ABC have set a summer premiere date for the Toronto-shot cop drama Rookie Blue.
The E1 Entertainment and Thump series, formerly titled Copper, will debut in simulcast on Thursday, June 24 at 9 p.m. The 13-part drama follows the lives of five young rookies just out of the police academy. It stars Missy Peregrym (Reaper, Heroes), Gregory Smith (Everwood) and Enuka Okuma (24).
The show ‘has ‘hit’ written all over it,’ according to a statement from Canwest’s content EVP Barb Williams. ‘From the top-notch writing to the superb cast and incredible production values, we love everything about this show.’
The series is exec produced by Tassie Cameron (Flashpoint), Ilana Frank (The Eleventh Hour), David Wellington (Would Be Kings) and E1’s Noreen Halpern and John Morayniss.
Canwest says it will launch a marketing campaign in support of the show in the coming weeks.
