Disney could move in with CBC

CBC is in talks to rent part of its Toronto headquarters to the Walt Disney Company.

The network confirmed this week, following a report by Canadian Press, that the federal cabinet has okayed its plan to lease the space to the Canadian wing of the entertainment giant. A document posted on the cabinet’s website says the Ceeb can lease the space for 10 years, with options to renew, ‘for a total consideration in excess of four million dollars.’

The cash-strapped network has been at pains to bring in more revenue, and indicated last year amid the laying off of 800 employees that it would seek to lease space and sell off assets in order to make ends meet. Portions of the building have been leased out before, to tenants including a restaurant and a film school.
