Add another $40,000 to the pile of cash pulled in by De père en flic, which on Wednesday took Telefilm Canada’s Guichet d’or Award. The annual prize for the top-grossing French-language domestic film was presented to co-writer/director Émile Gaudreault and co-writer Ian Lauzon at Montreal police headquarters.
The buddy cop comedy pulled in $10.5 million at the Quebec box office in 2009.
‘We are pleased to reward this success,’ said Telefilm financing head Michel Pradier. ‘Telefilm strives to recognize the success of the key talent behind Canadian cinema, because it is these outstanding partners — the hardworking filmmakers, producers, promoters and distributors — who keep our industry solid and vibrant.’
De père en flic was produced by Denise Robert and Daniel Louis for Cinémaginaire. It stars Michel Côté and Louis-José Houde.
