Decode Enterprises has sold its dirtgirlworld series to Sprout in the U.S. The cable spin-off of PBS has picked up the preschool series, which is coproduced by Decode’s production division and Mememe Productions in Australia.
The series, billed as the ‘first green living series for preschoolers,’ is set to debut on April 22, Earth Day, with a three-hour midday marathon. It also airs on ABC in Australia, CBeebies in the U.K. and on CBC.
‘Sprout is an ideal home for dirtgirlworld and we’re confident she’ll prove very popular on this U.S. platform,’ said Decode SVP Josh Scherba in a statement. ‘This is a unique show with fun, vibrant visuals and a cool, contemporary eco-heroine who fits the zeitgeist perfectly.’
The series was created by writer/producer Cate McQuillen and composer/writer Hewey Eustace of Mememe and includes live action, animation and other visual effects.
