MONTREAL — Laura Bari’s Antoine continued its winning streak after it picked up the prestigious Pierre and Yolande Perrault prize at the close of the 28th annual Rendez-vous du cinéma Québécois.
Produced by EyeSteelFilm, the feature-length doc follows the daily life of an imaginative six-year-old blind boy. The film, which is also nominated for a Jutra, was awarded the Lindalee Tracey Award at Hot Docs last May.
The RVCQ prize for best feature of 2009 went to La donation by respected Quebec filmmaker Bernard Émond, while Remstar’s Gilles-Carle award for best first or second feature was handed to ¿ quelle heure le train pour nulle by Robin Aubert.
The prize for the best art/experimental work went to Fear of Snakes, by Andreas Mendritzk, while best experimental short went to Les mots by Ivan Grbovic.
The best student film was Kitakinan — Notre territoire à tout le monde by Serge Bordeleau.
